If you can’t beat em (Google), circumvent em! So that’s exactly what Yahoo! did and went hardware.
It’s hard to pinpoint the exact reason why Yahoo! went partnership with Cingular to come up with the world’s first Yahoo! phone. But we can all surmise - from how Google has been dominating the online search industry with infrastructure and new software, the old giant is now waking up to smell the competition.
The phone itself is supposedly a Nokia branded phone with a 1.3MP cam, expandable memory and MP3 playback features. The difference is that it will have tight integration with Yahoo! services. I guess this means Yahoo! email, address books, and hopefully YM chat.
