W800i: Retro is back in two days time
The highly anticipated Sony Ericsson W800i is due for its US release in two days. Back home in Asia, the Walkman phone has made its way to store shelves. It’s priced at PHP 27,xxx.00 which translates to roughly US$500.00. I say it’s worth it!
The phone is the latest in geek porn, similar to the K750i - 2MP camera with autofocus zoom, up to 2GB capacity for the Memory Stick Pro Duo slot, same display and battery life too. The main difference is that the W800i ships with a larger 512MB memory stick slot.
I’ll let you in a rumor though — for the same price in Hong Kong, you get a 1GB stick packed inside the box instead of the usual 512MB. Shh, let’s keep it to ourselves, shall we?
As a Walkman Phone, the W800i allows you to listen to your music just like a regular MP3 player. Whenever a call comes in, your music automatically stops, to be automatically resumed right after your call ends.
