Verzio Duplii and Twinn: Dual SIMs make it to Asia

Nice things happening in Asia. Singapore manufacturer Verzio, a new player in the digital market, has come up with the first batch of dual SIM phones. Called the Verzio Twinn and Verzio Duplii, these two phones come with two SIM card slots.

I have nothing bad to say about the phones’ design. What I do wonder though would be how battery life would perform given that the phone is emitting two signals at once. Nonetheless, the engineers and designers put in a lot of work in the user interface:
So how does it work? I managed to try the user interface and worked my way through the nicely skinned menu system resembling Nokia and Sony Ericsson design. What happens basically is that your SIM cards are assigned “1″ and “2″ accordingly and you can make calls and reply using SIM “1″ or “2.” In the same way, messages are labeled as coming from either phone number. I must stress — both SIMs are active simultaneously.

it’s only available in QuickCom outlets for now. There is one QuickCom outlet in SM Southmall, Las Pinas and another one in SM North Edsa. Only the Duplii is available for now and it’s worth P14,990. I bought one yesterday and I’m so0o0 loving it. Thank god I saw this website before I bought a MyPhone unit. They give out a free 1gb memory card and an extra battery unit. You won’t have any issues with the charger too because it’s compatible to the Motorolla chargers and USB ports so it’s easy to find a car charger even if it’s not included in the pack. Picture quality is nice too. I haven’t uploaded pics on my pc yet but it does look better than the ones taken from MyPhone.

the keypad ‘2 and 3′, 5 and 6′, and so were intact togeteher, and they were small and stack at the very low end of the phone. not good keypad design.

What is the point of a dual SIM if its not Quadband GSM?

Still serves its function for me. You’ll get used to the ‘0′ key being on the right side of the keypad. I’m just happy that among all dual sim phones in the market right now, it’s one of the most dependable (i heard Samsung’s dual sim phone is also good but I haven’t seen its specs yet). I just wish I could add more apps to this phone. The installed games are not enough and I’m not sure if there are downloadable themes to it. Other than that, it’s all good.

How about the service center, just in case of problems and defects?

in the Philippines the phone is serviceable through the Verzio store. They are building one right now at Bonifacio High Street.
Haldane is the distributor of the Verzio brand so buying from an authorized dealer also guarantees warranty :)

How about battery life? On the average use (phone calls, txts, etc.), does the battery last a day?

Been tinkering around with the Duplii for a few days already… biggest disappointment would be the bundled software for the phone to act as a modem. Top COM port speed is only 115200 kbps - just as fast as a 56k modem.
Hope people at Verzio would look into this…
In the meantime… my trusted LG KU250 is getting the job done.

I have this question, do you have to turn it of just to switch sim provider? let say globe and sun… I know for a fact that you can monitor both, question is, is it a click only to answer text messages either of the two provider?
because I heard from the samsung D880 review that you need to turn it of to switch provider, that will be a little bit hassle on the user’s part for we have to wait for the phone to reboot… though you can monitor both, but answering is a different story…

@Bossing47
I’ve had the chance to get my hands on both phones. Both the Duplii and D880 are active dual sim phones (i.e. no need to reboot to switch provider).
The only time that the D880 would need to reboot is if you switch your primary sim from once service provider to the other (the sim which may be used for GPRS/MMS vis-a-vis the secondary sim with which you can just call and text)…
Hope this clears up things…

I’m interested on the TWINN . . . I’ve been looking for an active dual sim phone since last year.
Questions:
. . . How long does the battery last?
. . . How big can the memory be expanded?

if your using two sim cards at a time, roughly a day.. not bad.. using two simcards at a time consumes much energy than using only 1. its expndble to 1 GB.. not bad after all, hey guys. Verzio twin is Only 3,990 in stores..
