Unveiled: Palm Z22 and TX
Let’s not think of the Windows Mobile Treo 700w for a minute and focus our attention to the two new handhelds that will mark the “ber” months with more shivers. Palm has been undergoing several identity changes and have since replaced the Zire and Tungsten lines with just “Z” and “T.” They’ve also restructured their product catalogue to three categories - handhelds, smartphones, and mobile managers (the LifeDrive).

The Z22 will be similar to the Zire 31, but sporting a 160×160 colored screen and speed boost to 200MHz for US $130.00. Like middle-aged mothers will have a use for the extra speeed … That’s dissapointment number one.

The TX will be similar to the T5 in terms of apperance but will strike a huge blow to current users who were clamoring for WiFi when the T5 was released. This time over, the TX will include both Bluetooth and WiFi! This is dissapointment number two: this is what the T5 was supposed to be when it came out several months ago.
Oh and by the holidays, the Life Drive will ship with Philips headphones and a bunch of multimedia apps. Whee, I’m so underwhelmed. My general sentiment about this - I’m more WTF?! than OMG! Apparently, everyone else reading Engadget thinks so too.
