Motorola SOLR (?): The Solar Powered Cellphone

Motorola has filed patent for a chargerless mobile phone that gets its juice from the LED screen absorbing the sun’s rays.

Motorola believes it can get 75% or more of the light entering through the front of an LCD to the solar cell by using a different type of liquid crystal. By switching from nematic crystals […]

Motorola V9m: The RAZR’s Second Coming

I really like it how pre-press photos work. I’m almost sure there phone company’s PR agency out there that takes blurred cameraphone shots of new “seen in the wild” products like the Motorola V9m for viral marketing campaigns. “Make sure its just a tad more blurry, but enough to still see the logo.” Heh. Kidding.
Coming […]

ARGH! Why is it so hard for me to turn them on?!

Sexual connotations aside, this really pisses me off.
I don’t know if it’s just me, or phone manufacturers are giving incentives to people who read the manuals before trying to operate a phone. Sadly, I never had the luxury of opening up a phone from the box as units were more often than not handed to […]

Motorola LAZR: Pewpewpew!

Sporting a huge screen and running open source (Motorola did turn a smash hit of the Linux-powered Ming), the LAZR is a huge clamshell phone that may only appeal to those with deep pockets - figuratively and literally. Other rumors say that this phone has no Transflash expansion but comes with 512MB of internal memory. […]

If Motorola Buys Palm

This makes perfect sense to me for the following reasons:
1. Palm has been developing on an open platform with Access and so has Motorola with their latest line of open sourced smartphones such as the Motorola Ming A1200.
2. Palm’s success has been mostly due to the Treo handheld, a platinum award winning phone. They’ve […]

Motorola RIZR Impressions: Sliding its way to the top

Following the trend of how phone manufacturers make the same unit with a different body, I welcome the Motorola RIZR, which is the RAZR built into an ultra stylish slider design body. As for the bells and whistles, the RIZR is a bit outdated with some features as it does not come with 3G capabilities […]

MotoKRZR K3 with 3G

Nothing much to update with this phone except that it now has 3G capabilities. Does it go to show that these incremental upgrades to great selling phones (like this one here) is the way to go? I’d honestly prefer one big performance bump instead of icing on the side.

Motorola Ming Review by Yvette Tan

I recently convinced my new friend Yvette to buy the Motorola Ming and she, with delight, has emailed me a very good feature review of the phone. Take it away Yvette!

I call it fate. I wasn’t supposed to enter the Motorola shop, I wasn’t supposed to pick out a random flyer, and I certainly […]

Motorola ROKR E6 this December

An exciting aesthetic awaits buyers who have been following Motorola’s line of music phones. The new ROKR E6 is a PDA-style phone that foregos the keypad in place of a full touch screen. Bad idea in my opinion, especially since the touch screen doesn’t add any breakthrough to the functions. You would expect this phone […]

Motorola KRZR K1 and K1m features

I received a press kit from Ogilvy that also included a Motorola KRZR K1 demo unit. The KRZR apparently comes in two models, the KRZR K1 which is pictured here and the gray and black KRZR K1m. In terms of difference, the one I have now has a slightly more advanced camera at an […]
