I attended a press conference a few days ago for a high end smartphone brand. Among us were some tech bloggers, IT journalists and a number of lifestyle editors from the glossies. The product manager enjoyed talking about his new baby - one of the top of the line smartphones that recently hit the market. […]

“The new iPhone 3G has a nicer shape, GPS, and of course 3G speeds in the big cities,” says a blissed-out David Pogue. “But it’s the iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store that really change the game.”

Steve Jobs is mad. He’s mad at Canada. Not at the Canadians in particular. but to Canadian telcos who are described to have the most horrid data plans, it makes the whole thing disgusting. Tris from Maple Leaf 2.0 has A LOT to say about this.

The iPhone is unstoppable with 17 million in pre-orders from around the world (of course, we also have the perspective that whatever the iPhone sells in a month, Nokia sells in a week, but still…). Canadian telco Rogers has announced their rates at Canadian $60 to $115 per month. Sweden has pegged their rates at […]

Telcos are doing some huge subsidies. Apparently the $199 price for the iPhone 3G is a huge mask over its real price. Europe has just announced their pricing and with an iPhone-only package out of the box, this will cost USD $773 for the 8GB model and $881 for the 16GB model. Wowzers. OK so […]

I’m excited. Really excited. Not much for the new 3G iPhone features, of the fact that you can now sync it over .Mac (renamed to MobileMe). What I’m excited about is competition. Today, Apple announced the new prices for the iPhone 3G: $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB upgrade. With Windows […]
