Sprint announces Mobile Movies

by Jayvee on December 12th, 2005

So the never-ending quest to appreciate film on small screens is still alive.

Sprint has announced their new service that allows users watch movies, clips, and their favorite TV shows from their mobile phone. Now why would anyone want to do this? A possible reason could be the flat US $6.95 rate they will charge over and above the regular service rates. Hmm seven dollars - that’s roughly one hot lunch per month. So yes, it is cheap.

What I’m actually enthralled about is the selection of movies that you can watch. I mean, it is already absurdly funny that you can watch stuff from your two inch screen. What takes the cake though is the retinue of movies available -

The initial lineup includes films that are far from anyone’s first-run list. Among them are “One-Eyed Jacks,” the Marlon Brando-Karl Malden Western, as well as “Angel and the Badman” with John Wayne. Other titles include “Night of the Living Dead” and the most recent — “Short Circuit” from 1986.

The same (or similar) service is being offered to iPod users who want to watch B-films! Woot! Love that campy action!

If you want to know more, Phoneyworld has the source.
