Sony Ericsson W700

Sony Ericsson has announced a new W700 walkman phone to their line of digital music lifestyle phones. The W700 looks suspiciously similar to the W800i. Specifications wise, the W700 is exactly the same in everything except the autofocus feature of the 2MP camera. This is actually a relief to SE fans who hated the focus feature. In hands on experience, the focus can actually be a downside when trying to get close up shots.
In addition, the W700 comes with a smaller 256MB memory stick PRO duo card compared to the 512MB one of the W800i. It also comes with stereo earphones.
Here’s the question folks - is SE turning into a Nokia? They seem to be churning out a lot of these Walkman phones to meet every little niche. Remove one small thing and add a little something makes for a completely new product.

i’ve seen the phone already and yes, SE seems like becoming nokia. they cant give away all the good features. but i think they’re better than nokia because the only thing reduced is the memory. you can upgrade it, anyway. it plays music better than a nokia and it’s what i like most about it. i never really care about the cam anymore. i think 2 megapixel is enough to capture photos and it has flash so i dont have to worry about shooting at night. thanks for having this article. i know i can depend on your site. very timely, we, at training, were asssigned to look for our ulitimate phone and let it be discussed in the group and i think this model will do.

Hmm, turning into Nokia? Why not Moto, or Samsung? All product manufacturers, not just phone, are doing.

Well many phone companies will never be able to keep up with Nokia but yes it is true Nokia just churn out phones left right and centre with not alot of difference from one phone to the next. Sony Ericsson seem to be going on the same path but yet still seem to produce nice phones. I think companies like Pantech and NEC seem to be the boys who are moving forward.

I really wish Nokia would come up with ONE or TWO really good phones that would have ALL IMPORTANT features, from infrared, GPRS, good imaging, terrific storage capacity, Bluetooth, long battery life, etc… in a compact package. Seems they have all these features…but in various combinations in different phones. F R U S T R A T I N G!
