Shopping Guide: Axio hard sleeve

by Jayvee on December 11th, 2005

It’s almost Christmas guys and girls and if you haven’t figured out what to get your Mac portable lovin’ geek, maybe this entry will help.

The neat thing about the Axio hard sleeve is that it can fit any Mac portable. This is because the innards contain removable frames that will allow you to fit portables of different sizes.

Cover your precious PowerBook computer with Axio’s NEW ultra-sleek Hardsleeve. Built with tough double sided polycarbonate plastic—the same material used in bulletproof glass. Designed exclusively for Apple iBook and Powerbook computers, it’s the “must-have” item for the power user on the go. Hardsleeves feature an adjustable internal EVA foam compartment, guitar-style quick release shoulder strap and detachable iPod/power adapter case. Small Hardsleeve available in Pearl White. and Carbon Finish. Large Hardsleeve available in Carbon Finish.

Taken from the Axio website. Rough estimate for price is about US $160.00

You see, there’s a story behind this post - back home we just celebrated the annual Macintosh User’s Group Christmas party and one of the raffle items was that expensive Axio hard sleeve. Too bad I didn’t win. Thus my bitterness.

That’s my friend on the right with the Axio. The lucky shmuck! We won a couple of Apple golf balls and shirts. Hehe.

I just got one of these in the mail the other day in white. I’m not very impressed with it to tell you the truth. My macbook fit perfectly it it, but the hard outer shell is pretty much useless. There is no stiffness to it, and all the protection is coming from the foam inside. It also added alot of bulk to the laptop. So much that it wouldn’t fit into my back pack. The pictures make it look better than it is also. It’s pretty tacky to be honest. I will be returning it to axio.
