Remembering the Nokia 6310i

by Jayvee on November 3rd, 2005

It’s my birthday today, and it was on this day a few years ago that I was given one of the best Nokias ever made - the 6310i.

If you have or had this phone at one point in your life, I’m sure you would have sworn your mobile life by it several times over. The 6310i followed Nokia’s corollary rule of “getting it right in the 3rd try.”

Ever wonder why first iteration devices never really click? Well, its because the first wave has all the bugs, the second wave fixes a few more odds and ends (like UI lag), and the third iteration finally gets it right.

The 6310i was the third version of Nokia’s 6110 and 6210 - both predecessors were laggy, but presented hope for a stylish corporate phone. The 6310i had a cool light blue backlight, integrated Bluetooth to pair with your m515’s Bluetooth SDIO card, a fast user interface and very good battery life.

The moral of the story: Wait till the engineers get it right before buying.
