Poll results: 2006 mobile phone wants

by Jayvee on February 4th, 2006

Here are the results from the recent poll asking What feature should phone manufacturers concentrate more on for 2006?

# higher megapixel cameras: 12% (3)
# longer battery life that can last days: 25% (6)
# flawless compatibility with your desktop computer: 25% (6)
# gigabyte-class internal memory: 12% (3)
# more durable material that can withstand anything: 4% (1)
# make coffee and clean the dishes: 21% (5)

There seems to be a tie between longer battery life and flawless desktop compatibility .. followed by the ability to make coffee and clean the dishes (a clear reflection of the humor my readers have).

I agree with the top two results. Mobile phones are only as good as their last full charge and to be quite honest, battery life has always been one of the features I thought devs overlooked in this age of convergence technology. The more convergence taking place in one device, the greater the power consumption. Mobile phones need more juice

With regard to syncing data, I always thought that a flawless sync method from phone to desktop to online was the clear answer to the no-frills of the mobile lifestyle. The hassle of rebuilding your contact list from a crash is hell. Syncing data means that it can sync the address book and contacts, schedules plus other pertinent data flawlessly with any Microsoft or Apple OS. Even Linux.
