Nokia E61i: Now with 2MP camera and shiny shiny!

The Nokia E61 served as the epitome in its class as the most successful compact smartphone available in the market. More affordable than the Treo, it offered no nonsense enterprise features such as wireless Internet, Bluetooth, and push email.
With the advent of 3GSM 2007, Nokia pulls another magic number out of the pocket with the E61i. There ware several aesthetic and OS improvements from the previous model. Most noticeable is the move towards a directional pad and button from the joystick. A good move, as joysticks tend to get worn faster than D-pads.
The E61i also sports a better finish, doing justice to how the corporate world shuns on plastic, unless it is a credit card. In effect, the keys are easier to push and feel better. The addition of the 2MP camera (wowzers, this is now a complete package!) also tells us that enterprises are loosening the leash on camera phone use in restricted areas — not. I guess the need to capture Kodak moments are just too hard to resist. Or it could just be the simple fact that the E61 sales lost some to the Treo because of the camera feature. Who knows… *shrug*
Props to the e-series blog for the huge heads up.
