Nokia 6233 in depth review
Remember back when the 6230 came out? It was Nokia’s best selling phone worldwide with robust features and great value for money. Then, it was followed by the 6230i which was basically the same phone with a higher megapixel camera count and more storage.
Round on the edges and light on the pocket (figuratively and literally), the Nokia 6233 is the new classic series phone for the mainstream professional who is looking for a simple phone with 3G functions.
Sporting an upgraded 2MP camera at the back of the unit, the imaging capabilities become a double edged sword - high(er) quality pictures at the cost of slower loading times. Because the camera has been bumped up with no significant changes to the operating system, the camera tends to lag for about three seconds before the shot is truly processed.
There is another small price to pay for the affordability. Despite the fact that this model sports 3G, you will obviously be unable to make video calls for the lack of a second camera on the phone’s front.
Despite the two not so positive comments I made above, the 6233 is still a robust phone that will get you through your daily activities, sans the not so needed features like video calling and really huge screens.
Bottomline
If you’re looking for an affordable 3G phone that maintains a small form factor (other 3G phones are rather bulky), then this phone is for you. I see no other logical choice than the 6233 if you’re upgrading from a non-3G model without the need to be flashy.
