MSN Messenger disparity and more

by Jayvee on October 5th, 2005

There seems to be a huge disparity with insta messenger apps that span across platforms. One example is MSN Messenger, which performs so well on JAVA, but sucks big time on its own resident OS, Microsoft.

The same story goes for Yahoo! Messenger for the Macintosh. Until now, Mac users using the famous messaging app have been clamoring because can’t even create default fonts, use IM envoronments and do audio chat. heck, links don’t even show properly.

However, I still don’t understand why we haven’t seen an Messenger update after all the years, Windows Mobile includes Pocket MSN Messenger and basically it’s still the same as we have seen it released 19. April 2000 with the first Pocket PC. So it makes me even more wonder, that a Java based IM client called eMSN can do, what the original Microsoft client can’t:

* MSN instant messaging
* Emoticons
* Invite contacts
* Add/remove contacts
* Send E-Mail to contacts
* Snap and send photos (not supported by the Lite version)
* Receive and view photos
