Mobio makes movie mashups mobile

by Jayvee on November 7th, 2006

A new Mobile 2.0 service called Mobio aims to let you reserve and buy tickets through your mobile phone. And not only that, but give you full movie listings and directions to the theatre of your choice.

“Most mobile services are clumsy and counterintuitive because they are not built to recognize the individual’s personal preferences or location,” said Ramneek Bhasin, Founder and CEO of Mobio Networks. “We have developed a highly personalized user experience that is tailored to the individual’s tastes, demographic and geographic information. Unlike other mobile services, Mobile Movie Times feels like it knows the user.”

The novelty of having movie schedules and the power to actually buy tickets at the palm of your hand leaves you with many more options to plan ahead with your Friday night binges.

This will definitely not be the last of its kind in mobile 2.0 applications as the service is not dependent on telcos, but on software for your phones. As of late the software is only compatible with the “cooler” thin phones like the Blade and RAZR. And so, maybe one day, we will get to buy popcorn with our phones too.
