Let’s celebrate the new iPhone — by not showing any pics!
Save the date: June 9 2008. Steve Jobs will be pulling another great stunt to top last year’s: the second coming of the iPhone. Forbes is reporting that the new iPhone is really no secret and people have had information on the launch date and how exactly he’s going to wow the audience this time. It started with the buzz of the final leg of 2007’s fiscal year. Then parts being ordered. And then AT&T issues a statement that nobody can take a vacation leave between the 15th of June to the 12th of July.
We’ve seen the Jesus Phone, and like the first Israelites, we were wowed by the miracles it could do. But time can do things to men - and they can start to lose faith, especially when temptations arise - Google’s Android system that will be adopted on ALL OTHER PHONES in the world might convert a few believers. Yes Android has been demo’ed and it truly looks kick ass.
Can Steve Jobs reinvigorate the iPhone faith, or are there just too many religions out there to make the iPhone remarkable? Being remarkable … this is such a feat as what was remarkable last year isn’t necessarily remarkable today.
The second coming has a date, and that’s June 7 2008.

the only real innovation w the iphone was the touch screen ability and the screen. other than that the phone capability itself had nothing new. systems used in Japan are more evolved, with for example codebar reading on promotional collaterals to receive info directly to your phone. Apple remains a strong brand, especially in north america. it has a very strong following with the X and Y generations. so i dont think that the next iphone generation needs to worry about its success. people will buy because its apple, and that the aesthetics and usage are great. look at the ipods, many people had trouble w it. the battery life declines very rapidly over time, and the thing itself crashes. yet apple fans keep getting new ones.
long live apple.
