Google Print
The ‘Masters of Search’ a.k.a. Google has ventured into a new project that has allowed just about anyone with an Internet connection to access an eLibrary. Google Print has been busy scanning tons and tons of pages from over hundreds of thousands of books and made these page scans available on the Internet.
What’s even more interesting is that when you do a search using Google Print, you get search results within books themselves, just like how searching within a PDF document works. For instance, I took the liberty of searching for Problogger (and good looking b5media boss) Darren Rowse and got results from Steve Taylor’s book called The Out of Bounds Church.
So what are the implications here? Will Google Print tranform the eBook industry into something else? What kinds of documents will be available to the common man?! The possibilities are endless and exciting for the mobile lifestyle!! (i.e. language translating, ease of research, revised copyright laws?) Already, Google Blog has issued their explanation of the copyright wrestling match.
P.S. I’ve just set a new standard for myself. Now that my name appears in Google, it should also one day appear in Google Print. Heh.
