FrontlineSMS: The NGO Twitter?

by Jayvee on June 30th, 2008

FrontlineSMS Application

So there’s Twitter - a social crowd control tool that by chance just grew into that sort of thing.

Here’s something similar in effect but different in execution: FrontlineSMS is a desktop client that resembles a good mass SMS client that’s specifically meant for keeping a huge number of people up to date with activities. FrontlineSMS has been used mostly by NGOs in elections, event organizing, updating students with school curricula, and the like. The possibilities are varied with your fully customizable campaign. Best of all, the client is free!
