Flashback Friday: Sorry my dog ate my phonebook // Plaxo + Comcast = CRAPXO

Did your friend really lose your number? Or did she just really delete it on purpose?
The Art of Phone Book Deletion is becoming a commercialized one. It’s the most common excuse people give to those who’s numbers come in unregistered. Are phones that flimsy nowadays to have their phone books in a state of volatility?
You see, there was going to be a follow up to this post and it had something to do with Plaxo. This was one of the best services I’ve used for backing up and syncing address book contacts between desktop and mobile devices to a central online hub. Until Comcast screwed them over.
Comcast + Plaxo = CRAPXO
After the merger, my address book went haywire, syncing 1,500++ contacts I had deleted in my other life and now Comcast wants me to remember my sins from the past. They integrated a social network and screwed up all the internals making assumptions for those people who were fine with things as they were.
I’m all for this Web 2.0 social whatever thing. But sometimes when something isn’t broke, let’s not fix it. Or let’s not fix it with second hand parts. There are only three essential things in life that men need to survive: and those are oxygen, chocolates, and Plaxo.
