F-Origin HaptiTouch User Interface Concept
The HaptiTouch UI is supposed to be a cost effective way to go high tech. Utilizing a full screen and some soft keys, the interface allows you to do pretty much anything with the push or slide of a finger.
Tactile and aural feedback make applications and devices more engaging and easier to use while reducing errors. These feedback capabilities are force sensitive allowing - for example - versatile pop-up menus or analog volume control with just a single press. If needed, key application functions can react differently according to the amount or length of force applied. The technology also gives the user the freedom to use a finger, glove, stylus or any other pointing device. [source]
The biggest hurdle here would be to convince phone and PDA manufacturers to license this onto their hardware. You know how it goes - hardware companies are very protective of their operating system. But then again, HaptiTouch, at least from the video, looks like a logical investment as it simplifies the user exprience and cuts cost.
