Contest: Giving away FIVE (5) Vumber Disposable Phone Numbers!
Last week, we had a solar powered Bluetooth headset from Iqua up for grabs (winner announced in a separate post). This week, in keeping with our green theme, though not intentionally, we have FIVE complementary disposable phone numbers up for grabs for use within the USA courtesy of Vumber. Let’s go green - let’s go disposable!
DISPOSABLE PHONE NUMBERS??
Yep you heard it right. Vumber is a service that allows you to link your current mobile phone number to a Vumber account, thus masking your real mobile number. This is useful for short business trips, filtering contacts and gee, for practically anything that has to do with your “other life.” (LOL)
A Vumber is a number from any area code you want, linked to your home, cell, or work phone. When someone calls your Vumber, Vumber lets you control how you handle the call: you can a) answer it; b) send them to VumberMail; c) give them a busy signal; d) tell them the number is out of service; or e) play them a custom message you create.
It provides unequaled privacy protection when anyone calls your Vumber, and when you call anyone. And it’s not limited to a pre-defined one-to-one calling relationship like you sometimes see out there – it is as simple as having another phone number. Even simpler. Vumber puts you in total control of your communications and your identity.
Here are the rules for the contest:
1. Contest will run from the 19th of May to the 23rd of May 2008, ending at 23:59 EST.
2. To qualify, all you need to do is leave a comment with a valid email address, answering the question, “What’s the best way to DISPOSE of a bad memory?” :)
3. You can leave more than one comment to increase the chances of winning BUT you can’t repeat your answer to the question “What’s the best way to dispose of a bad memory?”
4. Each entry entitles you to a raffle. I will enter all ballots into a raffle and choose the lucky winners. The winners will be announced on the 26th of May, the Monday after the contest closes. Although there are 5 prizes, you can only win once so if your name gets picked again, the raffle will be discarded and another winner will be chosen until we have 5 different winners!

Notes:
* Vumber should work with all US phone numbers and so far it works with Canada as well
* Vumber is still being tested with Asia. BUT, if someone is coming to the U.S from Asia and wants a U.S number, they can get a Vumber with a U.S. area code and hook it up to their Asia number and phone. That way when people with a U.S. number calls them, they can be reached and not have to deal with long distance costs. :)

replace it with a good one. I.e., if you visit a foreign country with someone you end up not liking or having a bad time with, go again, but take a better friend or go alone. The new memories will replace the old ones.

I’m hoping to wipe out the memory of not winning the solar-powered headset with the memory of winning a disposable phone number. I should wait a while to try again, though. The odds of that random number generator picking 1, 2, or 3 are pretty low.

control yourself on how the way you think about it! dwell with memories that will help you move forward. if this bad memory will help you become successful in life, why dispose it? who knows? it might be the “instrument” to become a better individual. However, if this bad memory will bring you down, then its time to control your mind. Remember, mind over matter. think positive then you will attract the same thing. Time. Time heals all memories. The bad memories turn into general feelings. I generally like to think I enjoyed high school, but I only remember the good, fun times at this point (7 years out of high school).

Some times no matter how bad the memory it needs to be kept in pristine condition. How many times have you made a mistake thinking if only I had remembered how not to do that from the first time.
So disposing of a bad memory is to re-educate myself to use the bad memory to go toward a good future.

In some religions, one way to dispose of a bad memory is to literally throw it away. The process involves taking anything tangible relating to the memory, put it in a box or bag of some sort, and throw it into a bonfire while your friends do the same, and start anew from there.

At the South Park Planetarium, they have a machine that helps you dispose of bad memories by making any attempts at remembering cause excruciating pain. After a while, you just don’t try to remember anymore. Memory disposed of!

Why dispose of bad memories? Some of my worst memories are tightly interwoven with some of the best. I would love to get rid of some of those memories, but I would lose some of the best memories I have as well.
