Birds phone home
No, I’m not talking about the Chinese manufacturer, Bird. These real birds are equipped with small cellular phones that send back signals of their migratory patterns to scientists. Oooh those scientists, always cooking up something in their funny lab coats. “Cure for cancer … cellphone for birds … cure for cancer …. cellphone for birds …”
The mobile cellular devices will weigh 0.07 ounces and will be attached to birds captured in nets in North American breeding grounds. They will allow the scientists to track their locations within a radius of 2 to 3 miles, an unprecedented degree of resolution, said Robinson.
