An interesting criteria for selecting a phone
I had coffee with a friend yesterday and I swear I’d post what she told me. Apparently she’s never come to the point where she gets to upgrade her phone because they always seem to get lost to a mugger.
Anyway what she told me kinda stuck on how she chooses new phones:
“I choose a phone based on the knowledge that I know it will get stolen in two years.”
If you want to quantify this, it would have to be a phone not above the $200.00 range. It would have to have a colored screen at least (as you can get good monochrome phones at less than $100.00) but not have too many bells and whistles. SMS and calls would be all it can really do and a camera would be great - but stuff like WiFi and Bluetooth are very very secondary.
What criteria do you have when selecting a new phone?

Heh. I buy my bicycles that way: assuming that they gets stolen within 2 years. And since my bike is always a relatively cheap one, I feel more comfortable leaving it at weird places. And paradoxically, I don’t have a constant fear of my bike getting stolen, as I have pretty much accepted it already.
The insurance company loves me :)

I think the $200 figure is based on your means. I’m sure the only issue for wealthy people when they lose a phone is if they have any sensitive data on it.
